The heavy rains caused flooding in notorious areas around Malta, including on newly-built roads.

Areas like Msida, Birkirkara, Qormi, St Andrew's and Marsa were hit by floods, with cars being dragged away by the waters and leaving drivers stranded.

A yacht ran aground witnthree people on board, none of whom were hurt.

It has been a rainy and thundery weekend, and the Met Office is forecasting more rain in the coming hours and tomorrow.
