49 new cases of Covid-19 found overnight, 41 people recover

49 new cases of Covid-19 were found in the last 24 hours, while 41 people have recovered from the virus, health authorities said on Tuesday.

It means that the number of active cases in Malta has once again crept over the 500 mark, and now stands at 507.

1,666 swab tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests up to 218,692.

Authorities said that today’s cases are still being investigated, but gave details on the cases reported yesterday.

Out of the 53 reported on Monday, authorities said that 14 are family members of previously known cases, three were case from social gatherings with other positive cases, two were imported, one was a work colleague of a known case, and another was a direct contact of another positive case.

It means that the total number of cases of Covid-19 since March 7 in Malta now stands at 2,454.  Out of those, 1,931 have recovered, while 16 have died.
