Three youths were arrested and are being held by police over the theft of fuel from petrol stations between March and June this year.

One of the men is aged 19 and from Zejtun, while the other two are 21-years-old and from Bormla and Qormi respectively.

The men were identified after investigations by the Police’s Major Crimes Unit.

The 19-year-old was arrested first on suspicion of stealing fuel from a petrol station in Triq il-Belt Valletta in Zurrieq across a number of days last March, while he, along with the two other men, allegedly also stole fuel from a pump in Aldo Moro Street in Marsa last June.

The two 21-year-olds were allegedly complicit in the thefts from the Marsa petrol station, and the man from Bormla was also found to have driven a vehicle without a license.

The trio are expected to be arraigned in court before Duty Magistrate Josette Demicoli.
