San Giljan Tum Invest - Neptunes 9-6

(2-1), (2-2), (3-1), (2-2)

San Giljan once again beat Neptunes to win the Knock Out competition making it a memorable double, the sixth in the club’s history.

It was a tremendous season for San Giljan, having won all their matches, practically always convincingly.

San Giljan started as hot favourites yesterday, but maybe it was not one of their best performances this season.

However San Giljan were still good enough to beat a Neptunes side that once again gave its utmost against the neighbours from Balluta, but in the end they had to surrender against better opposition, leaving Neptunes empty handed.

The match was very tight with San Giljan making the decisive break in the third session, building a three-goal lead by the start of the fourth and final one, to clinch the Knock Out competition, adding it to the league title.

It was the sixth double for the club after those achieved in 1952, 1963, 1995, 2015 and 2017.

It was also the last game for veteran San Giljan player Paul Fava who, after years of service to the club, is retiring.

A double for Valletta too

Valletta ended the season on a high winning handsomely the Knock Out competition adding it to the First Division title.

It was practically the least Valletta could do after the bitter disappointment of not playing in the Premier League in the second phase of the season.

That was Valletta’s target at the start of the season, and in the end they had to settle for the League and KO of the First Division.

There was no contest in yesterday’s final with Valletta winning all sessions easily and piling a 10-goal margin victory by the end of the match.
