Elderly man becomes 57th person to die with Covid-19

An elderly man became the 57th person to die with Covid-19 in Malta on Wednesday, the Health Ministry announced.

The man, who was 91-years-old, passed away on Wednesday morning.

He was admitted to Mater Dei Hospital on 16 October, and tested positive for Covid-19 on that same day.  He continued to receive treatment at the hospital, where he passed away.

The Health Ministry said that the man suffered from other chronic illnesses.

The man is the second Covid-19 patient reported to have died on Wednesday, after the Health Ministry this morning confirmed that an 89-year-old woman had passed away with Covid-19 on Tuesday night.

The Health Ministry expressed its condolences and urged everyone to follow the Covid-19 guidelines.
