Prime Minister Robert Abela, Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne and Finance Minister Edward Scicluna presided over the signing of an agreement through which the government will give a €5million grant from the National Social and Development Fund to the Puttinu Cares Foundation.

The foundation will be able to invest in more London apartments through these funds, which are close by to the Great Ormand Hospital.

In a Castille press conference, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the agreement.

He praised the Maltese values and said that the agreement is a reflection of the beautiful characteristics of the Maltese people who, in times of difficulty, help each other.

The Prime Minister said that when the agreements for the apartments are signed, the Fund will pass the €5million to the foundation along with other payments regarding the use of the apartments.

Deputy Prime Minister Fearne said that each year 800 patients are sent out of the country for specialised care, the majority of whom go to London.

He said that the government pays for the hospital bills along with air travel fees for patients and in the case of children, also for the two parents.
