Two women were hit by a car in Santa Venera on Tuesday, with one of them being seriously injured, the police said.

The accident happened in St Joseph High Road at 3.15pm.

The two women, aged 55 and 59 and both residents in Hamrun, were hit by a Toyota Vitz driven by a 33-year-old Hamrun man.

The 55-year-old was seriously hurt, while the other woman was slightly injured.
