Infrastructure Malta is informing the public that, as of tomorrow, it will be carrying out some emergency road works in part of the Xemxija Hill which will carry on until 11 December.

This comes from a notice that IM put on its Facebook page, in which it explained that the emergency road works is being done to repair severe surface damage “caused by its weak foundations.”

The road will be closed in the northbound direction, from St Paul’s Bay to Mellieha for the duration of these works.

IM is advising the public to follow the diversion route through Tal-Mizieb Road (open in the northbound direction only) or use the other alternative route through Manikata where northbound bus routes are being diverted towards.

“These interim repairs will render the road safe until we can rebuild it with stronger foundations after underground water and sewage network upgrades planned for 2021 are completed by the respective utilities.”
