164 new cases of Covid-19 found as active cases go over 1,900

164 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Thursday, as the number of active cases continues to increase.

73 people have recovered, while one more Covid-19 patient has passed away – news which was announced earlier on Thursday.

Malta now has 1,935 active cases of the virus.

2,806 swab tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, taking the total up to 533,029 so far.

Out of the record-high 224 cases reported yesterday: 54 cases were family members of previously known cases, 24 were work colleagues of positive cases, 11 were from social gatherings, and 10 were direct contacts with other positive cases.

Malta has now had 13,776 cases of Covid-19. 11,613 of those have recovered, while 228 have died.
