A man who attempted to leave a residence via a roof fell onto the road and was seriously injured, the police said.

The accident took place in Buttar Street, Santa Venera, at 11.30pm on Sunday.

The man, a Filipino aged 37, and resident in Qrendi, found himself locked in the residence.

He attempted to leave via the roof, but fell, and was seriously injured.

He was taken to hospital.
