Anti-terrorism police have arrested five men in connection with the alleged abduction of a Syrian national.

The five men – four Syrians and one Libyan – were arrested in Safi and Zurrieq. The police had been investigating the alleged abduction for a number of days.

The police said the argument was related to the Syrian conflict and the period when the country was controlled by the rebels.

The men are expected to be arraigned on Tuesday. Police investigations are ongoing.
