A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital after he was seriously injured in an early morning crash on the Coast Road on Sunday, police said.
Police said that they were informed of the incident at 5:40am, and preliminary investigations showed that a man – who was later identified as a 42-year-old Italian – was riding a Honda SH150AD motorcycle and was involved in a crash with a Toyota Hiace van, which was being driven by a 51-year-old from St. Paul’s Bay.
The rider was assisted by a medical team and taken to Mater Dei hospital by ambulance where he was certified as suffering from serious injuries.
It’s the second accident in as many days on the Coast Road, after a motorcyclist was seriously injured when he lost control of his bike and ended up on the rocks on Saturday afternoon.
Duty Magistrate Joe Mifsud is leading a magisterial inquiry while police investigations are still ongoing.
