124 new cases of Covid-19 found as two more patients die

124 cases of Covid-19 were reported on Monday, while two more people have died while positive for the virus, according to the latest update provided by health authorities.

Authorities said that an 81-year-old man and an 88-year-old woman passed away during the last 24 hours while Covid-19 positive at Mater Dei Hospital.

It means that 269 people have now died while positive for the virus.

141 people have meanwhile recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases has decreased to 2,657.

3,037 swab tests were carried out on Sunday, taking the total number of swab tests administered so far up to 615,617.

27,759 doses of the vaccine have been administered by authorities, with 3,948 people receiving both doses of the jab.

Malta has had 18,027 cases of the virus. 15,101 of those have recovered, while 269 have died.
