Former government minister Konrad Mizzi was interrogated by the police’s financial crime investigation unit on Wednesday

Mizzi was seen entering the Financial Crime Investigation Unit’s headquarters in Santa Venera, although it remains unclear what he is being interrogated about.  He left after around 90 minutes.

He was assisted by his lawyers, Jean Paul Sammut and (former magistrate) Carol Peralta.

"We always collaborate with whatever questions are asked, and that's about it," he told journalists as he got into his car to leave after the interrogation.

Times of Malta reported that former OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri will be interrogated by police tomorrow.

Both Mizzi and Schembri were called in by police for questioning last November in relation to chats linked to businessman Yorgen Fenech, who currently stands accused of masterminding the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has also been questioned over his communication with Fenech, who at the time headed the Tumas Group empire.

Both were released on police bail and both have continually denied any wrongoing.
