A 55-year-old woman from Qormi was grievously injured in a head-on collision with a truck in Luqa on Monday afternoon.

The accident took place at around 2.50pm in Triq Hal Luqa. The woman was driving a Chevrolet that was involved in a crash with a DAF truck driven by a 27-year-old man from Birzebbugia.

The woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Police investigations are ongoing.

Part of the road was closed to traffic as a result of the accident, leading to heavy congestion in the area.
