102 new cases found as total cases surpass 20,000

102 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday as the total number of cases of the virus in Malta since the beginning of the pandemic surpassed 20,000 cases.

Two people meanwhile have passed away while positive for Covid-19.  They are an 83-year-old women who died at St. Vincent de Paule and a 72-year-old man who died at Mater Dei Hospital.

It means that 297 people have died while positive for the virus.

124 people have recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases has gone down to 2,316.

2,116 swab tests were carried out on Monday, taking the total number of tests up to 658,919 so far.

Till yesterday, 53,647 doses of the vaccine had been administered.  17,102 people have received both doses of the vaccine so far.

Malta has had 20,047 cases of Covid-19. 17,434 have recovered, while 297 have died.
