A 75-year-old man was grievously injured after getting hit by a car on Tuesday, police said in a statement.

Police said that they were informed of a traffic accident at 8:30 on Tuesday morning in Triq ix-Xatt in Ta’ Xbiex.

Preliminary investigations showed that a 75-year-old man from Mosta had been hit by a car – a Toyota Vitz – which was being driven by a 73-year-old man from Ta’ Xbiex.

The 75-year-old was taken to Mater Dei hospital by ambulance, where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
