199 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Wednesday while one more patient died while positive for the virus.

The patient who passed away was a 74-year-old man, who died at Mater Dei hospital.

It means that 298 people have died while positive for the virus.

89 people have recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases has spiked back up to 2,425.

3,207 swab tests were carried out on Tuesday, taking the total number of tests up to 662,126 so far.

Till yesterday, 55,709 doses of the vaccine had been administered.  17,843 people have received both doses of the vaccine so far.

Malta has had 20,246 cases of Covid-19. 17,523 have recovered, while 298 have died.
