Covid-19: New cases dip to 233, but active cases climb to 3,000

The number of new Covid-19 cases has dipped from the record 336 registered on Tuesday to 233, but fewer recoveries mean that the number of active cases has now shot up to a record 3,000.

Information privded by the health authorities show that the number of cases has reached 23,266, while the number of recovered patients is 19,905, including the 162 registered today.

The number of swab tests carried out was 3,654, for a total of 709,336.

There were two deaths in the last 24 hours, a 84-year-old man who died at Mater Dei Hospital and an 86-year-old woman who died at Gozo General Hospital.

Until yesterday, the number of vaccination doses administered reached 84,129, of which 29,738 were second doses.
