A 28-year-old man was arrested over armed robbery, the police said in a statement.

The man was arrested in Ta' Xbiex. Investigation into the robbery of two women that took place between Wednesday and Thursday night continued after the arrest was made. A man had approached the women, threatened them with a knife and stole one of their handbags. Items tied to the robbery were found while searching the arrested man's residence, as were other items tied to different thefts.

Investigations are ongoing.
