A magisterial inquiry has recommended that former OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri and ex-Allied Group managing director Adrian Hillman be charged, The Times of Malta reported.

According to the newspaper, the two could be charged in court "in a few weeks" and the police and the state prosecutor are understood to be acting accordingly.

This is in relation to an inquiry that was handed to the state prosecutor's office last Monday. While the conclusion of the inquiry is not public yet, the newspaper reports that the inquiry recommended that both Schembri and Hillman face criminal charges.

The inquiry was the one requested by former PN leader Simon Busuttil in May 2017 over money laundering allegations on ex OPM Chief of Staff Keith Schembri and ex Allied Newspapers managing director Adrian Hillman, wherein Schembri allegedly passed €650,000 on to Hillman through regular €5,000 payments between 2011 and 2015.
