A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in prison, as his appeal for the court to reduce his sentence in connection to a domestic violence case against his partner and daughter was denied.

The court found him guilty of grievously injuring his daughter in 2017, who was just seven months old at the time. The man also kept his partner against her will and assaulted her. She was eventually freed through police assistance.

The act was described by the court as barbarous and terrifying. He kept his partner locked in a room, covering the windows with sheets.

She told the court how in one instance, she tried to call her father for help using his phone, yet he took the carry cot, in which the baby was in, and threw it on the bed while hitting her. She took the baby to protect it, but she said he hit her like a punching bag.

The baby was found to have a fractured leg as a result.

The man denied attacking his daughter, arguing she fell off the bed as they hit her while arguing. The court found that, even if his actions were out of a moment of anger, his continuous aggression was not involuntary.
