Two people were arrested by police on suspicion of drug trafficking on Friday morning, police said in a statement on Saturday.
The police said that the two Hungarians – a 37-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman – were arrested by the police’s anti-drugs squad with the assistance of the Rapid Intervention Unit on Friday at around 11am.
They were found in possession of drugs which were ready to be trafficked, the police said.
The police said that they found substances suspected to be heroin and MDMA ready to be trafficked when they searched a residence in Birzebugga. Substances suspected to be amphetamine were also found.
The duo are expected to be arraigned in court before duty magistrate Doreen Clarke on Saturday.
