Some 1,100 parents of minors with a disability between them have received €580,000 in Covid-19 temporary benefits the government handed out, the government said.

There were 1,422 applications for such a benefit, meaning that 78% of the applicants received it, a statement said.

The expenditure rises to €645,000 when one considers that the social security contributions continued to be paid.

Solidarity and Social Justice Minister Michael Falzon said this measure showed the government’s commitment to safeguard the interests of Maltese families in need.
