An announcement on the relaxation of further Covid-19 restrictive measures could be made "in the coming days", Health Minister Chris Fearne said on Tuesday.
Fearne also confirmed that the Covid-19 situation is stable to the point that the measures announced to be applicable from 10 May will be able to be implemented.
Restaurants and snack bars, amongst others, will be able to partially reopen on 10 May. Travel to Gozo will also restart, but bars and clubs remain closed for the time being.
Asked by The Malta Independent whether Malta would follow the suggestions of the ECDC on mask-wearing, which stated that when two people who are fully vaccinated meet, measures in this regard can be relaxed, Fearne said that these measures will remain in place.
He noted that the ECDC's statements were simply suggestions, and that mask-wearing remains an important thing to restrict the spread of the virus.
The measure will only be re-visited later down the line, he said.
With regards to the vaccination process, Fearne also confirmed that 55% of all adults have been given one dose while 25% of the same group are fully vaccinated.
The vaccination process is now open to people aged 30 and up and Fearne urged everyone to apply in order to get vaccinated.
