Malta in need of ‘an economy with a long-term vision’– PN

Malta is in need of an economy with a long-term vision which invests in sectors of priority and does not tarnish Malta’s reputation, the Nationalist Party said in a statement.

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech discussed the need for a well-thought out economy when visiting the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, where he met with President of the Chamber Marisa Xuereb.

Grech was accompanied by PN MPs Claudio Grech and Kristy Debono, as well as PN Candidate for the General Election Giorgio Schembri.

Sharing his vision for the economic sector, Grech said that the Nationalist Party will lead a “strong program of investment” in local sectors which will aid Malta and push it forward as a resilient economic hub.

“[Grech] wished to deliver a message of hope to those who work, those who invest, and those who dream of enterprises: the entrepreneurs of our country”, the statement reads.

He stressed that there is “no doubt” that Malta needs to turn a new page for its economy, so much so that “the Government has admitted it itself”, he said.

The economic model of the Nationalist Party is built on investing in an economic sector that will facilitate local as well as foreign investments. It will also ensure, Grech added, that workers are given a better pay for their efforts.

He hopes that that the PN in government will inspire entrepreneurs and youths to pursue their respective businesses and professions.

The PN’s long-lasting model of the economy, Grech said, will give Maltese hope, rather than “tarnish our reputation”.

Xuereb stressed that negotiations are of utmost importance since “they are depended on by all”, and she ensured that, under her administration, the Chamber of Commerce will continue working to adopt a long-lasting vision.
