Two relatives scoop up Super 5 jackpot

Thursday, 27 May 2021, 12:56 Last update: about 4 years ago

Two relatives who have been playing the Super 5 lottery for over 30 years won a total of €225,000 from the Super 5 draw which was held on 12 May, Maltco said.

Since the first ever draw of Super 5 which was held on 24 January 1990, two close relatives have been participating in this lottery with the same five random numbers, 10 – 27 – 11 – 17 – 4 which were originally picked up at random with no association to them. Both players have been playing the same combination of numbers week after week through the ticket repeat feature by visiting a Maltco POS.

As they were interviewed by Maltco’s Head of Marketing & Communications, Caroline Attard, one of the players said that she made the discovery the following week when she visited a POS to play the same numbers.

It was a Maltco Agent who gave her the amazing news that both tickets were winning and matched all five drawn numbers of Super 5. Still perplexed with the news, the player went home and shared the news with her other relative who owned the other ticket.

The players who claimed their prize from Maltco offices on Wednesday 26 May, took home a cheque of €112,500 each. Still astonished with the win, both players who are retired said that they will use the money to live more comfortably while also helping other members in their family.
