Any type of events held virtually on in person with limited capacity should be done under protest, The Malta Entertainment and Arts Industry Association (MEIA) said on Facebook.
"Any type of events starting from today held virtually or in person with limited capacity, should be done under protest with a statement to be seen on stage, at the venue or publicly read out before the performance. - Eg this performance/ exhibition/ event/ concert/ screening/ show is being held under protest due to the discriminatory measures imposed on our sectors , disregarding our livelihood and right to work sustainably. Please support us to keep the arts and entertainment alive," MEIA said.
The association has been pushing for the easing of measures for events to take place.
Recently, the MEIA had said that " there seems to be an unfortunate disregard towards the livelihood of professionals, where such measures (introduced) do not make it feasible or even practical, unless the event is subsidised by government. No communication or discussions continued with MEIA after our safe & reasonable proposals were submitted."
