A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon in a crash in Qawra, the police said.

The accident took place in Merluzz Street at 6.30pm.

The biker, a 25-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay, was riding a SYM Symphony which was involved in a collision with a Toyota Yaris driven by a 22-year-old woman of Marsaxlokk.

The biker was given first assistance by a medical team before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
