Summer seems to want to say a big “hello” this year as the week that officially ushers in the season will see a sharp rise in temperatures.
Met Office forecasts indicate that the last day of spring, 20 June, will see the temperature climb two degrees overnight – from 31 Celsius on Saturday (feel like 34) to 33 on Sunday (feel like 36).
The first day of summer, Monday 21 June, will then see a further two degree rise to 35 degrees (feel like 38).
The Met Office is forecasting these days – and the ones that follow – as being hot and sunny.
People are urged to stay in the shade, avoid being in the sun during peak hours and drink lots of water.
