Fed up of the heat? We have some bad news for you

Saturday, 26 June 2021, 11:19 Last update: about 4 years ago

If you're feeling hot, sweaty and are looking forward to cooler days, well... you might have to wait at least another week.

Summer has started with high temperatures, reaching 41 degrees (feel like) today.

But this sweltering heat is not expected to subside anytime soon, according to the Met Office (see table below).

The coming days are also expected to be hot and sunny, with temperatures in the high 30s and a feel like of 40 and above.

Tuesday, a public holiday, will see the highest temperature reaching 38 degrees (feel like 40), and the same goes for Thursday.

Nights will be warm too, hovering between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius.

The health authorities have issued a set of precautionary measures one can take in this kind of weather.

A dip in the sea may cool you off too. But the chill many swimmers felt until last week is no longer there, as the sea is getting warm too.
