A 20-year-old Syrian suffered serious injuries after he fell a storey off scaffolding while carrying out some works, police said on Wednesday.

Police said that the accident happened at around 9:10am in Triq Wied Ghollieqa in Kappara.

Preliminary investigations found that the man had been carrying out some works while on some scaffolding, before falling around a storey to the ground.

The victim was given medical assistance before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified being seriously injured.

Duty magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace is leading an inquiry while police investigations are also ongoing.
