The gathering of a huge crowd in Hamrun for the belated celebrations of the Premier League victory has sparked indignation on the social media.
Hundreds of people gathered in the locality on Thursday evening in an activity which was also given extensive live coverage on PBS, Net and One.
Many of the participants openly flouted Covid-19 restrictions about the wearing of masks and social distancing, as they mingled together, embraced and danced to celebrate.
Although restrictions have been eased, health authorities insist that any gatherings should be for less than 300 people in an open space, with guests seated.
In Hamrun on Thursday, this was definitely not the case as footage and videos show.
Among the most critical of the event was the Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association. Artists have been complaining for weeks about a lack of understanding by the health authorities for their profession. “Two weights and two measures,” the association wrote on its Facebook page.
