55 new Covid-19 cases found as numbers continue to shoot up again

55 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Thursday as case numbers continued to shoot upwards.

Just six meanwhile have recovered, and with no new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, it means that the number of active cases currently stands at 159.

It’s the highest number of cases found since 60 cases were reported on 19 April.

2,668 swab tests were carried out on Wednesday, taking the total so far up to 1,006,510.

Meanwhile, 696,858 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far, with 367,086 of those being first doses.

344,666 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 30,755 cases of the virus. 30,176 of those have recovered, while 420 have died.
