A Chinese man was grievously injured after he was hit by a car on Friday, the police said.

The accident took place in Valley Road, Birkirkara, at 1pm.

The man, aged 27 and a resident in Marsascala, was hit by a Peugeot 306 driven by a 56-year-old of Balzan.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.
