It’s the second day in a row that over 100 cases of the virus have been reported by health authorities, as the country yet again undergoes a spike in cases, with this one being traced to unvaccinated tourists and, mainly, English language students.

The government has responded by shutting Malta’s borders to the unvaccinated and by closing down English language schools entirely.

3,224 swab tests were done on Saturday, taking the total number of swab tests up to 1,015,801 so far.

705,852 doses of the vaccine meanwhile have been administered, with 371,421 of those being first doses.

349,961 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 31,061 cases of the virus. 30,184 of those have recovered, while 420 have died.
