Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne is self-isolating after a family member of his tested positive for Covid-19, his ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The Health Ministry said in a statement that Fearne has not tested positive for the virus, but will be following the health authorities’ measures regardless and will work from home.

Fearne has been leading the country’s fight against the pandemic, and the news comes as Malta goes through another summer spike of Covid-19 cases.

Malta currently has over 450 active cases of the virus, after 109 and 101 cases were recorded on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
