218 new Covid-19 cases reported as active cases hit 1,000 mark

218 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Wednesday, taking the number of active cases up to exactly 1,000.

No recoveries or deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

The last time Malta had over 1,000 active cases was on 29 March, when Malta had 1,132 active cases – preceding a major decline in cases.

The last time over 200 cases were registered in a single day was on 21 March, when 224 cases were registered.

4,188 swab tests were carried out on Tuesday, taking the total number of swab tests up to 1,025,989 so far.

Meanwhile, 711,973 doses of the vaccine were administered up to Tuesday, with 375,090 of those being a first dose of the jab.

352,523 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 31,612 cases of the virus. 30,192 of those have recovered, while 420 have died.
