Grech gives Abela a red card for his gameplay against the pandemic

Prime Minister Robert Abela continues to fail when it comes to taking the necessary measures to tackle the spread of Covid-19,  PN Leader Bernard Grech said.

Malta was placed on the red list by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) amid a recent surge in the number of Covid-19 cases.

Grech believes that Abela is not giving the tourism industry and the thousands of jobs that depend on it the due importance needed.

"By not following scientific medical advice but rather stubbornly experimenting, Covid cases in Malta have now alarmingly shot up," he said.

He stated that Labour does not seem fazed about being put on the EU's red list and that the government has done nothing for the thousands of families who have been negatively affected by the very sudden changes in Covid measures which resulted in people being stuck abroad or unable to travel abroad.

Grech said that in order to ensure that Maltese and Gozitans do not become the victims of PL's mistakes, Abela must first and foremost "renounce his arrogance since we cannot afford more incompetent measures - especially not the elderly, students, teachers, parents, artists, and anyone working in the sector tourism."

Grech remarked that Robert Abela consistently refuses to acknowledge the scientific proposals put forward by the Nationalist Party and when the Covid situation hits the fan, he takes them on as his own.
