Minister Michael Farrugia has been admitted to hospital, days after testing positive for Covid-19.

A spokesperson for his ministry confirmed with The Malta Independent that Farrugia is currently in hospital and that he is under observation.

Farrugia announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday.

A doctor by profession, Farrugia is the Minister for the Elderly and Active Ageing.

Malta currently has 2,177 active cases and, as of the last update provided by health authorities on Tuesday afternoon, 18 Covid-positive patients are receiving treatment in connection with the virus.
