Quarantine for fully vaccinated people could go down from 14 to 5 days

The quarantine period for fully vaccinated people who come into contact with Covid-positive persons will soon go from 14 days down to 5.

The announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne during an interview with Times of Malta.

Fearne said the plan is to allow such people to come out from self quarantine after five days, provided that they get a negative PCR test. They would also have to take another swab test a few days later.

The details are still being drawn out and a pilot project is underway among front liners at Mater Dei Hospital.

The announcement comes after the Malta Chamber appealed to the government to ease quarantine rules for people who have received both jabs.

Currently, anyone who comes into contact with a positive case must quarantine for two weeks, including people who are fully vaccinated.
