Friday, 30 July 2021, 07:59 Last update: about 4 years ago

President George Vella is urging the implementation of the recommendations made by the three judges who carried out a public inquiry into the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

In a statement, Vella said that he had received a copy of the report and noted its conclusions and recommendations.

His first reaction is that the recommendations are to be respected and, where possible, implemented.

He said that he has always insisted that judicial structures should be allowed to work without interference and external pressures.

The report should serve as a starting point which will lead to a healing process from the terrible consequences that the country suffered as a result of the heinous crime.

Vella said that he had followed the press conferences given by the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition and joined them in expressing his sorrow.
