64 new Covid-19 cases reported as 168 recover

64 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Monday, with the number of active cases decreasing.

168 people have recovered, while nobody passed away in the last 24 hours – meaning that the number of active cases currently stands at 1,609.

A total of 37 Covid-19 patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, with five of those remaining in the hospital’s Intensive Therapy Unit.

The average age of the cases reported on Sunday was of 34.

2,762 swab tests were carried out on Sunday, taking the total number of tests so far up to 1,096,806.

Meanwhile, 760,417 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered thus far.

399,724 of those were a first dose, while 382,825 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 34,439 cases of the virus. 32,011 of those have recovered, while 423 have died.
