New Covid-19 cases back over 100 mark after almost two weeks

101 new Covid-19 cases were reported by health authorities on Friday, the first time in 13 days that over 100 cases of the virus have been reported in a single day.

119 people meanwhile have recovered, while no new deaths were registered from the virus.  This means that the number of active cases currently stands at 723.

A total of 36 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital – six less than on Thursday.  Four of those patients are currently receiving treatment in the hospital’s ITU.

3,597 swab tests were administered on Thursday, taking the total so far up to 1,133,384.

Meanwhile, 782,600 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far.

407,171 of those were a first dose, while 403,015 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 35,192 cases of the virus so far. 33,644 of those have recovered, while 429 have died.
