Two Covid-19 patients pass away as Malta registers 54 new cases

Two people have passed away in the last 24 hours while positive for Covid-19, health authorities said in their daily update on Tuesday.

A 62-year-old woman and a 91-year-old man passed away while Covid positive, taking Malta’s death toll as a result of the pandemic up to 433.

54 new cases of Covid-19 were registered on Tuesday, while 57 have recovered from the virus.

Malta currently has 604 active cases of the virus.

A total of 41 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, three of whom are in ITU.

3,112 swab tests were done on Monday, taking the total up to 1,146,206 so far.

786,015 doses of the vaccine had been administered up until Monday, with 408,546 of those being a first dose.

405,578 people are fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 35,434 cases of the virus so far. 34,001 of those have recovered, while 433 have died.
