82 new Covid-19 cases found as number of people in ITU down to 1

82 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Wednesday, as the number of hospitalisations decreased.

71 people meanwhile have recovered, while no new deaths related to the virus were reported in the last 24 hours, meaning that Malta currently has 615 active cases of the virus.

A total of 37 Covid positive patients are currently receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital – with the number of people in ITU now down to just 1, from 3 on Tuesday.

3,192 swab tests were administered on Tuesday, taking the total so far up to 1,149,398.

Meanwhile, 787,194 doses of the vaccine had been administered up until Wednesday – with 409,095 of those being a first dose.

406,325 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 35,516 cases of the virus. 34,072 of those have recovered, while 433 have died.
