With an investment of around €134,000, the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri has distributed financial aid to voluntary and sports organisations. This is being done in order to support these organisations and give them the opportunity to carry out projects and initiatives for the benefit of the Gozitan Community.

A total of 18 voluntary organisations applied for this year’s Voluntary Organisation Scheme, all of which were eligible. A sum of €89,877 was distributed by the Ministry for Gozo between these 18 organisations.

Meanwhile, with the help of the Sports Associations Scheme, a total of nine sports associations met the established criteria and were awarded funding for their projects.

For this year’s Sports Associations’ Scheme, the ministry has allotted a sum of €43,872.

During the conference, Minister Camilleri said that the main aim of these schemes is to improve the social, cultural, ecological, and sporting fabric of Gozo.

This scheme encourages and promotes a culture of volunteering and participation in volunteer activities within the Gozitan community, Camilleri said.

He added: “I look forward to see this financial aid, which is being distributed today, translate into innovative initiatives around the island.”

Minister Camilleri thanked the organisations for their valuable work, saying that these are the backbone and the driving force for the island of Gozo to continue seeing progress and continue to move forward in several areas.

The Ministry will continue working on providing assistance and support to these organisations, from year to year, Camilleri said.
