“Minister Edward Zammit Lewis’ position is now more untenable than ever,” Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Grech wrote: “It is now official that we have a Minister that seeks the approval of someone who is going to be tried by jury, facing life imprisonment, for his involvement in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.”

Grech was referring to the news on Wednesday that 17 Black owner has been indicted and will face a trial by jury. Sections of the media have published personal chats exchanged between Fenech and Zammit Lewis, which show that the two men were very close.

Grech said that the State was found responsible for creating a culture of impunity, and it was precisely these factors that led to such a conclusion.

“Do you agree with having a Minister that seeks the approval of alleged criminals?”, Grech asked.
