A year on from a brutal double murder in Sliema, family members of one of the victims continue to wish that time could be turned back while continuing to live with their loss.

It was on 18 August 2020 that doctor and investment banker Chris Pandolfino and his British partner Ivor Maciejowski, an art dealer, were shot dead inside their home in Locker Street in Sliema in what was a hold-up gone wrong.

A year on, Pandolfino’s sister Daniela shared her reflections on social media, speaking of how a large chunk of their lives remains missing owing to their loss.

“We all wake up with a heavy heart today. A large chunk of our lives is missing”, she wrote.

“We wish we could turn back time, even for just one second, to maybe say something we never said, or share one more laugh … Alas we can’t. Fate has been cruel. We must live with it, as we live with the many memories that we have”, she said.

“It has been a tough year, we have all thought, reflected and asked questions … but nothing fills the void. A huge tragedy has brought us all together and made us even stronger than we were before”, she said.

“We carry Chris in our hearts and minds, and will do so forever.”

Three men – Albanian national Daniel Muka, North Macedonian Viktor Dragomanski, and Dane Jesper Kristiansen – have been charged with the double murder, which police have described in court as a “poorly planned robbery” which went wrong.

Muka, a person with a history of run-ins with the police, is believed to be the person who pulled the trigger.

All three have pleaded not guilty.
