Two more Covid patients pass away as 86 new cases are found

Two more Covid-19 patients have passed away, while health authorities have reported 86 new cases of the virus.

In their daily update on Thursday, health authorities said that 86 cases had been found and that 56 people had recovered.

The number of active cases currently stands at 643.

In the last 24 hours, a 96-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man passed away while Covid-19 positive.

The number of people in hospital meanwhile has gone from 37 to 32, although the number of people receiving treatment in ITU has increased from 1 to 2.

3,496 swab tests were administered on Wednesday, taking the total so far up to 1,152,894.

788,292 doses of the vaccine had been administered up till Wednesday, with 409,498 of those being a first dose.

407,154 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 35,602 cases of the virus. 34,128 of those have recovered, while 435 have died.
